Training Hearts for Jesus, biblical parenting curriculum

Training Hearts for Jesus

Several years back, after some attempts at leading the families of Cornerstone Community School through the two fabulous parenting books, Shepherding a Child’s Heart by Tedd Tripp and Child Training Tips by Reb Bradley, we came to the conclusion that there needed to be time and effort invested in a curriculum that would create a cohesiveness between these two books. After a long season of prayer, Sharon Cannavo submitted to the task for the sake of the training of the families at CCS, and began writing what is now Training Hearts for Jesus. This curriculum weaves together the biblical concepts and principles of these two authors, while adding the practical application that Sharon has gained from over a decade of working with students at Cornerstone, along with her own experiences through training her children.  As a result, hundreds of parents have increased in wisdom and peace through God’s Word as it is expressed through the Training Hearts for Jesus parenting class.  Its exciting to hear stories of transformation in the lives of their families. This curriculum makes learning about biblical parenting a fun and exciting experience. This set also contains a new 45 page Discussion Guide in Adobe Acrobat Reader (PDF) format; it is on a separate CD for easy printing from a computer. These lecture tapes are designed for use by study groups.

The Book:

Shepherding a Child’s Heart is about how to speak to the heart of your child. Bringing deep biblical principals to the task of parenting and concentrating on what is going on inside a child rather than just their outside behavior .

Child Training Tips: What I Wish I Knew When My Children Were Young

Child Training TipsIt is not just another book on child training — this book has no equal! Every chapter consists of symptom lists which identify behavior problems, and expose trouble spots in parenting. Answered are questions like: How can a parent tell if they’ve given control of their home to their children? How can a child be trained to obey quickly when spoken to calmly and only one time? What’s gone wrong when chastisement doesn’t work? How can appropriate punishments be determined? What are the most subtle signs of rebellion? How do parents accidentally train their children to disobey them? What can be expected of children at what ages? What exactly is “sass” and how can it be stopped?
